Jed
This is not just the will to survive! This is the will of the Hunt!
Jed is a participant of the Second Crab Tournament, working for Team Chads. A blind and stoic monster hunter from a world of dead gods, he came into the Tournament in order to hunt the greatest prey of them all - the Gamemaster himself.
Appearance
Personality
Jed is usually a stoic and silent individual, not reacting with overt anger or emotion to anything around him, not even his wounds. He is patient as a hunter, and can strike casual conversation with anyone, showing himself to be friendly to both his team and opponents.
He seemed oblivious when Leuca was hitting on him, but he was apparently just biding his time.
Powers and Abilities
He is a nomadic monster hunter, accustomed to killing creatures far stronger and larger than him - which he accomplishes through mastery of several weapons taken from other fallen hunters, his favorite being a huge harpoon with a rope attached to it for convenience. He possesses as well a steel parasol he can deploy for defense, a spare harpoon in case his first breaks, and as a last resort a 40mm Martini Henry Grenade Launcher. He is shown as well to be capable of setting up traps and explosives, useful skills for a hunter.
His real power is given to him by the blood of the dead god of his world, allowing him to use his mind or body to “cut” anything he desires, splitting objects no matter what defenses they possess. He prefers to use this as a final resort and the ability seems to be endless and continuous, allowing him to quickly gain advantage and perhaps making him likely the most powerful member of his team.
Jed can activate as well an X-Ray type of vision to deal with traps or hidden enemies/ambushes.
Background
History
Round 1
Jed (won, entry) vs Turtloli (lost, entry) in 100 Meters Race. Match page: C2 R1 - Jed vs Turtloli
Jed ultimately used his harpoon to obtain the victory.
Round 2
Jed (won, entry) vs Captain (lost) in Sailing. Match page: C2 R2 - Jed vs Captain
Jed took the hat in France, while the Captain became a girl.
In Jed’s canon reality, he awoke in the ship with the female Captain ordering him to help, as both were to sail. Jed invited her to a date and Captain refused saying he was a man which Jed did not believe. They sailed and observed different match ups going on. Captain realized the island they were around was just France. Jed gave Captain a prosthetic arm, which annoyed her for it reminded her of how she lost her own. She chided Jed for slacking, who teased her, but they were interrupted by something pulling on his fishing rod. When both pulled together, the fish proved to be a massive monster called a Blyard. Jed had the Captain pull it while he tried to harpoon it, but the fish was too strong and just pulled on the ship. In the end Jed used his gun to fire a harpoon at the monster’s eye, killing it, and both made it back alive. Jed had hung the creature as a prize and invited her to a date, which she accepted.
Captain died at some point after these events, most likely trying to escape to be eaten by Bodycount.
After the Captain’s death, Jed never learned the truth and missed her.
Round 3
Jed (lost, entry) vs Vivian (won). Match page: C2 R3 - Jed vs Vivian
After a vicious and evenly matched battle, Vivian ultimately was left standing.
After Crab 2
After the battle with Vivian, Jed was too damaged and thus could not stop Chadwick from using the Wish and creating Eternal Crab, trapping every contestant in continuous tournaments inside the Bucket. Rebelling against him but too powerful to be incarcerated, he continued competing and became friendlier with the other trapped Crabs. He ultimately accepted Leuca’s advances and both had a child together.
After the events of Crab 3, Jed was returned back to his unified world without memories of the tournament thanks to Berbie’s wish. However, before that he managed to catch the Gamemaster out of Mana and delivered him for a reward as intended. As he did, he discovered a picture of him, Leuca and the son they had together - reminiscing of his teachings, the hunter was left wondering if they were real, and if so, where they were.
