The Fourth Rider
Field Value Full Name Cyrus Rivers Alias Gender Male Age 15 World Four Horsemen World Occupation Adventurer Status Alive (returned home) Role Participant Team H.A.U.N.T. Edition Crab 3 Creator
And I looked, and behold a Pale Horse. And his name that sat upon him was Death.
Cyrus is a participant of Crab 3, working for the team H.A.U.N.T. He is a young boy atuned with the concept of death itself, and as such a member of the four riders of the apocalypse of his world - as well as an adventurer and wanderer.
Appearance
Personality
Cyrus was abandoned as a baby and lived through foster-care systems through most of his life, often leaving them to wander on his own. He shows to be rather used to the supernatural and is not easy to surprise.
Up until he managed to fully control his power in the last round, Cyrus showed some level of insecurity in his prowess against opponents like Hime, as well as some desire to gain power in order to overcome the difficulties in his life such as securing the Crimson Crown for himself, before ultimately deciding to throw it away. In this regard, he ends up developing as more confident and less ambitious than his leader, Lenard.
Powers and Abilities
Being the avatar of Death itself, Cyrus can enter a monkey-like spiritual form on which he can eject the souls of beings out of their bodies with only touching them. In this form he also shows to be surprisingly agile, able to evade traps and Dylan’s gun. Releasing a being’s soul also allows them to access their spiritual potential, if they do not instantly die, as in the case with Zephyr or Hime - the issue of this problem for Cyrus is that he has little control of it and it can be damaging to maintain it for long periods of time.
Outside of that, Cyrus also shows himself to be one of the most practical members of H.A.U.N.T. as his knowledge of modern internet allowed them to find materials for their mech online, as well as showed capability to pilot the bat-mech on his own.
He is an ace with the skateboard.
Background
History
Round 1
Cyrus Rivers (lost) vs Dylan Lucas Mostynn (won) in Raiding The Tomb. Match page: C3 R1 - Cyrus vs Dylan
Cyrus joined the ranks of the Empire, and was tasked with retrieving the powerful Crimson Crown giving its wielder command over the entire population.
In Cyrus’s reality, after dodging the traps inside the Crown’s mausoleum and snatching it from its undead monarch hands, Cyrus was confronted with Dylan who tried to reason with the boy, asking him what worth would the crown have once the round was over and they left Centuria. Cyrus refused to hear and dodged Dylan (accidentally causing one of the traps to turn Dylan bald), forcing the Odyssey member to shoot at him - although Dylan first panicked believing Cyrus to be dead, he quickly figured out the boy had escaped. With the crown in his hands, Cyrus thought about it before ultimately dropping it near some unnamed graveyard.
In Dylan’s canon reality, Dylan encountered Cyrus inside the Crown mausoleum and argued with him against taking the crown- but they were interrupted by the undead guardians of the Crown which attacked. Realizing Cyrus’s soul-power would not be effective on soulless constructs like those, Dylan offered the boy the Memento of Courage, a piece of diamond that turns into a sword, in order for both to fight together against the creatures. Once the danger passed, Cyrus snatched the crown and ran, only to be found by Dylan (who tracked the memento) as he pondered what to do with it. Dylan convinced him to destroy the crown to stop its menace towards the kingdom and both obliterated it together. Dylan then invites Cyrus to the Airship, setting a recurring gag of him getting lost to strange places. Cyrus then accidentally blows up the ship’s bar and kitchen as well as Mishka’s collection of boozes.
Round 2
Cyrus Rivers (lost, entry) vs Hime Mashima (won, entry) in Karate. Match page: C3 R2 - Cyrus vs Hime
In Japan, both took the kemono potion, with Hime turning into a badger girl and Cyrus into a further monkey.
In Cyrus’s reality, he was quickly overwhelmed by Hime despite Lenard’s advice, which caused Cyrus to hit rage-breaking point and go into his spiritual form - ejecting the girl out of her body. Hime however remained still stuck as a soul - so Cyrus distracted her telling Lenard was doing something to her doll Peluchin and then ripped off her heart. Fainting after using his powers for so long, Lenard called Dr. Stitch to heal him.
In Hime’s canon reality, they faced each other in a karate-eating competition, with Badger!Hime being overly violent and territorial for the food and easily gaining advantage. Threatened by the Gamemaster to give a good show, Cyrus used his power to eject Hime’s soul - however, despite her hearing a voice calling from the other side, the other members of Brat Pack appeared in the spiritual world, having been transported there after Tripp coincidentally laced their teas. With Brat Pack pulling Hime away from the land of the dead, she kept facing the Rider in a semi-unconscious state, until she overpowered her team and was stopped by the voice behind the door - her beloved mentor Igrevni long passed away. Igrevni scolded Hime for taking out her frustration on her previous defeat on Cyrus, telling her to be kind to the boy and that he would watch over her - awakening then from death, Hime offered her opponent some of the food that was left.
Round 3
Cyrus Rivers (won, entry) vs Fedelina “Feddie” Fernister and Zephyr (lost, entry). Match page: C3 R3 - Cyrus vs Feddie and Zephyr
In Feddie’s reality, Feddie fights Cyrus in order to get Dylan who is held hostage by Berbie as a prize. Feddie attacked the boy with an explosion, causing him to turn into a new, monke form to fight. Feddie responded by ordering Zephyr to remove his shackles and the wind femboy released a tornado launching Cyrus off-stage.
In Cyrus’s canon reality, he descended into the Bucket in his spiritual form riding a skateboard - having been granted control over his power. Quickly slicing Zephyr in half, he released the homunculi’s soul, and with it its full potential: but both to him and Feddie’s surprise, the unshackled Zephyr made quick work of his master, having held a grudge for years due to her control over him.
After Crab 3
After Brat Pack’s victory, Cyrus returned to his world. No particular wishes made to the Bratheon are known, but he is seen in Kome’s epilogue hanging out with Kalinka and Ferfou as the girls win a fencing tournament.
Relationships
Life Within CRAB
Cyrus eventually dated Kalinka through the tournament.
A recurring gag for Cyrus is that he tends to accidentally go to strange places or places where he shouldn’t be. This made him go to Odyssey’s Airship where he caused the explosion and also got entangled with the rebellion after getting lost to Nuremberg, where he helped the rebellion slaughter as many gnomes as he can. He was eventually picked up by Lenard and promptly grounded.
