I could just leave this place but something in me wants to keep it alive... Because I know what it feels to be forgotten...

Dylan is a participant of Crab 3 as a member of Team Odyssey. He is the last remaining member of the heroes who had saved the world from an apocalypse known as the “Despair Horizon” and “Nibiru”. After cleansing the world of evil, he is now tasked to find rightful wielders of godlike artifacts known as “Mementos”. He joined CRAB after getting personally invited by the Gamemaster, where he thought he could find possible wielders in that tournament.

Appearance

Personality

Dylan has a warm, friendly, and mild-mannered disposition. He is usually jolly and gentle around friends while being polite and patient with strangers. He has a very active lifestyle due to his numerous jobs, something he sometimes stresses about due to his lack of wealth. He is also wise, being centuries old, and tries to be the guiding mentor to a lot of people. His way of wisdom is more comparable to a “big brother” type rather than an old sage. Despite this wisdom, he is quite bad in getting scientific terms, jargons, and technology. Although these shortcomings get hidden because he looks and acts like a young adult more than someone who is centuries old.

Despite all of this, he is actually a very lonely person. Being an ascended and branded by some as the idiot and coward hero, he is usually left to his own devices due to the need to keep his real identity a secret. He also expresses his attachment to people he had strong relationships with like his hero group or his very own CRAB team and would anguish for a long time if they are gone. He has a real fear of being alone in life again. He is also said to be exceptionally scary when furious but he won’t go as far as committing murder due to the nature of his powers. Nevertheless, he tries hard to be the positive ray of sunshine and an active helpful force to any group he is in, branding him as the unofficial second in command for Odyssey.

Powers and Abilities

Having centuries of training and experience, Dylan is a formidable fighter. He is acrobatic and his body is strong enough to go toe to toe with enemies more than his size. His natural agility and body coordination he got from being a performer allows him to do impossible feats. He also got trained in using firearms and weapons at a very young age of 12, with his first weapons being a crossbow and dual balisongs, making him an ace sharpshooter and extremely powerful weapon combatant. His specialties however, are dual wield weapons such as dual pistols, eskrima sticks and dual blades. He favors firearms more than melee weapons.

Aside from his martial prowess, Dylan has inherited godhood from the fallen God of Love, Sun, and Fire named Solelia. This grants him fire powers which he can use to attack, protect, or even heal. Perhaps his most powerful fire is known as Holy Fire. Fire that comes from transmogrifying things of great sentimental value into a more powerful fire. This fire can then transform into any weapons of Dylan’s choosing. The more sentimentality he has with an accessory, the more powerful a weapon could be. By nature, he can also turn his clothes into weapons. Perhaps his most powerful weapon is his very own chosen Memento, his necklace. Which turns into “Ethos”, the most powerful gun responsible for cleansing the world of monsters and destroying Nibiru. He also has some of god powers such as immortality and imperfect omnipresence that takes form of portal hopping to places Dylan knows.

Aside from his very own memento, Dylan was also mandated the use of the other mementos, once wielded by his late friends. These artifacts also have extremely powerful effects and powers. The Memento of Courage allows the user to create weapon and armor while also having the domain over earth. Memento of Wisdom allows domain over synapse and electricity as well as mindscape control and reading. Being able to heal the most insane of people or even use mind bending powers such as telekinesis and telepathy. Memento of Hope allows domain over wind and atmosphere. It’s said this memento can revive the dying known as “Second Wind”. Selflessness allows control over water and can tether with someone else to receive the same powers. Visionary allows domain over living things and nature and being able to create an ecosystem or even have a familiar. Finally, Compassion allows the user domain over light, healing, and the holy. It is said to be the closest to Dylan’s virtue which is Love.

Combat aside, Dylan is an exceptional butler, cook, and housekeeper. He specializes in making marmalades and jam. He is an ancient being of his own species, meaning he is exceptionally resistant to substances and drugs compared to his modern counterparts. He is also once a performer and can also play instruments like Violins and Guitars and has a good singing voice.

Pre-CRAB

Pre-CRAB

Dylan was doing his duties as a janitor one afternoon when he detects a disturbance in the air, quickly changing into his fighting attire. As he readies to shoot down the monster, he is shocked to see that the monster, who is Kevin in an armor, is just there to formally deliver an invite to CRAB. Rather than fighting Kevin, Dylan quickly befriended him and decided to hop on the tournament in hopes of finding a wielder. Eventually landing on Odyssey’s Airship.

History

Round 1

Cyrus Rivers (lost) vs Dylan Lucas Mostynn (won) in Raiding The Tomb. Match page: C3 R1 - Cyrus vs Dylan

Dylan joins the group of the Forest Alliance led by Der Baum. He is tasked to retrieve the Crown of Sovereign and keep it from falling to the wrong hands.

In Cyrus’ reality, after dodging the traps inside the Crown’s mausoleum and snatching it from its undead monarch hands, Cyrus was confronted with Dylan who tried to reason with the boy, asking him what worth would the crown have once the round was over and they left Centuria. Cyrus refused to hear his reasonings and dodged the traps both had set off (accidentally causing one of the traps to turn Dylan bald). This forced Dylan to shoot at him. Although Dylan first panicked believing Cyrus to be dead, he quickly figured out the boy had escaped. With the crown in his hands, Cyrus thought about it before ultimately dropping it near some unnamed graveyard because the color red did not fit him.

In Dylan’s canon reality, Cyrus was already in the tomb, struggling to find his place on the dark when Dylan sneaks behind him and lights the area. Dylan tries to dissuade Cyrus from pursuing the crown for the empire but Cyrus rebels against it, telling Dylan he would not hesitate to destroy his soul if he gets on Cyrus’ way. Suddenly, their bickering had awakened the undead skeletons and golem of the crypt. Cyrus transforms into his death monkey form but soon realizes that his soul destroying powers don’t work on soulless constructs. Cyrus was about to be crushed by the golem when Dylan saves him then offers the kid to use one of his mementos: The Memento of Courage which this time manifested itself as a giant English sword. The two fight off the horde until they have successfully found the crown. Cyrus then promptly steals the crown and escapes using an empire mandated smoke bomb. Later, Cyrus ponders what to do with the crown and memento when Dylan suddenly sneaks up behind him again, having tracked the memento and the crown. Dylan warns him the responsibility of wearing that crown and the fact that he would be used as an errand slave if he gives it to the empire, something Cyrus fears and detests. Together, they destroy the crown to avoid the abuse of power.

After the adventure, Dylan promptly invites Cyrus to Odyssey’s airship as a friendly gesture. However, while curiously exploring and fidgeting with things on the airship, Cyrus accidentally sets off a fire, causing the airship’s bar and kitchen to be destroyed as well as burning off Mishka’s collection of fine wine and booze. Angry, Mishka forces Cyrus, Dylan, and the new crew Ludwig to fix the bar. Cyrus would be eventually scooped off by Lenard while Dylan successfully restocks the airship’s rations. Cyrus also allegedly stole Odyssey’s rations, only to discover the potatoes have mold on them.

Round 2

Dylan Lucas Mostynn (won, entry) vs Cassidy (lost, entry) in Shinto Shrine. Match page: C3 R2 - Dylan vs Cassidy

In Japan, Dylan had accidentally taken the Yellow Potion, causing him to receive a familiar’s powers and Tomoe’s fox fire from Kamisama Kiss while also bearing the shrine’s blessing. Cassidy drank the kemono potion, giving her cat ears, tails, and reflexes.

In Cassidy’s reality, she decided to visit a shrine in Japan as a part of her Japanese experience. She noted how old the shrine looks. Dylan appears behind her saying his gratitude over the donation. Dylan says he was assigned to the shrine but expected more people to come, however, Cassidy disappeared and was spirited away by the shrine. Cassidy appears in a school, seemingly unaware that she was in a trance or dream when Dylan goes to rescue her. While on the way out, Cassidy trips and she was bleeding, her ears won’t work which made her realize that she is not in reality. As soon as she realizes this, she falls through a row of Toriis and into a water, with Dylan shouting that she needs to realize why she was in this false reality and what her purpose is. She pauses, stating her purpose now is to get home. Back in the reality, Dylan as a fox asks her again what her purpose in joining the tournament was. Cassidy shrewdly answers about being a housecleaner and going home again. After more prodding of Dylan, Cassidy admits that she was going to study medicine but fell through, she also stated she just wants to help people but she hasn’t done anything yet. Dylan suddenly transforms back to his Monkey-Fox yokai form, tripping Cassidy who then noted how cliché the ending was.

In Dylan’s canon reality, Cassidy visits the shrine despite being dilapidated and forgotten. She makes a donation and prays when Dylan, being the familiar hears and records her prayer, he then jumps off of excitement, scaring Cassidy. Dylan invites her for a dinner. While eating, Dylan tells the story of how the Kami of the Shrine has long left the shrine and the shrine is being kept by him because of sentimentality and empathy for it being forgotten. Cassidy then decides to help Dylan restore and fix the decrepit shrine, when suddenly a miasmic curse arrives. Cassidy’s presence as a human had attracted the miasma which could potentially spirit her away or worse, consume her soul. Dylan tries to use his fire fox powers to protect Cassidy as the curse rendered Cassidy immobile and her ears cannot protect her from spiritual attacks or curses. As the miasma closes in and Dylan’s nerfed powers fail him, Cassidy asks for a solution. Dylan reveals that a Kami could purify the miasma and he has the mark of the kami but has to be given with a kiss. In desperation, Cassidy kisses Dylan without thinking, granting her the mark and making Dylan her familiar. The two then drive the miasma curse away. The next day, to solidify the shrine’s revitalization, Cassidy performed the Kagura. Attracting the spirits and people alike and reviving the old shrine once again as its new kami.

After the Shrine’s revival, Cassidy has kept her now godlike status similar to how Dylan ascended. While Dylan is no longer her familiar, the two are in contact with each other and are very good friends. She also got the two shrine Liondogs back. Meanwhile, Dylan and Frankie encountered Tenebris in their airship, who asked them why are they fighting. Dylan warned Tenebris about how gods would fall like flies in his world and it’s mortals like him who have to pick up their slack. Dylan also had been around, creating a tenuous friendship with Z, believing he is a good memento candidate but Z promptly denied it, however, Z had created copies of mementos for Dylan’s convenience and has copied the Memento of Selflessness for himself.

Round 3

Dylan Lucas Mostynn (forfeited the gold) vs Tripp Rosewood (received dylan’s gold). Match page: C3 R3 - Dylan vs Tripp

Before Round 3, Dylan had been so busy that he missed his match announcement, meanwhile Tripp’s mental slowly deteriorated as he goes cold turkey. The combination of misfortunes that happened to him like the near overdose, his unfortunate event in Round 2, and his eventual supposed death match for Round 3 had broken his mind and made him lose hope.

Tripp’s part starts with Tripp’s flashback with his best friend PJ, with PJ telling him to make new friends. Tripp remembers this in the present as he watches Wietse get imprisoned to Nuremberg with contempt. Hime notices his change in demeanor and requests Kome to cheer him up. Kome tries to lift his spirits but was met with resistance as Tripp slowly remembers his Round 2 and promptly vomits in disgust.

The time for Round 3 came, Tripp shudders as he realizes that he is facing a godlike being. Dylan, who has no intention in harming Tripp, tries to reason with Tripp, but Tripp attacks him with a gun which Dylan easily dodges and shoots the gun off Tripp’s hand. Tripp then attacks with his knife, managing to stab Dylan in his arm but Dylan shrugs it off, cauterizing it with healing fire before Dylan throwing the knife and Tripp away. Knowing there’s no other way out, Tripp jumps to the gun to try committing suicide but Dylan shoots and destroys his gun.

In sheer desperation, Tripp used his secret weapon, a bomb of veil and a blunt made of Sack’s skin and Kome’s veil. He throws it at Dylan, hoping he would overdose. Unfortunately, Dylan is an ancient and has extremely high tolerance for drugs, the veil did nothing on him. Tripp on the other hand starts going insane because of veil overdose. Having hallucinations of his abusive father, the friends that abandoned him, and eventually Tredecima decapitating all of his friends in front of him. Tripp starts giving in to despair when he is suddenly transported in a field of poppies, seeing Dylan praying over the monument of the lost heroes. Tripp started experiencing Dylan’s life as he learns of his background, learning that they have a lot in common: having and losing friends and being alone. Suddenly, PJ appears behind him, giving Tripp a tight comforting hug. Tripp sees Dylan hugging his master while PJ reassures him that like Dylan to his master and to his friends, he won’t ever leave him. Tripp wakes up from this trance. It is revealed that him snapping off was the work of Dylan’s Memento of Wisdom, saving him from the veil’s deadly effects.

Continuing the match, Dylan chastises Tripp for giving up easily, the wisdom showed Dylan that deep inside, Tripp’s source of hope was his friends. He then strips off his weapons, clothes, and even the other Mementos, challenging Tripp to a fair fist fight. Tripp, having his hope reignited, started throwing punches. Dylan easily overpowers Tripp, but each time he falls, Tripp kept standing up. His resolve to keep fighting the impossible resonated with the Memento of Hope. As the Memento appears by his side, Tripp delivers a storming punch so hard that it created a powerful gust stretching outside the Bucket. Dylan gets knocked down but gets up, realizing what happened. All of the spectators and commentators stare in awe as Tripp had finally transformed as an ascended: Tripp, Chosen by Hope. Tripp realizing his power, leaps to Dylan to try to ring out him, Dylan strangely did not fight back, choosing to open himself up so Tripp can knock him out the ring. As Tripp tackles Dylan midair, Dylan suddenly hugs him, noting how he had undergone so many unfortunate events, yet he still kept fighting. Dylan then says that he is proud of him, touching Tripp deeply as he cries. Tripp manages to ring out Dylan, earning him the win.

As Dylan accepts his defeat and exits, Tripp goes to him, questioning if he gave the win away. Dylan assures him that he deserves it and he’d rather give the win to someone whose team has a chance of winning. Dylan requests Tripp that he uses his powers to protect his friends, now that he has the absolute power of the gods and holy wind. Tripp reassures him with an enthusiastic thumbs up and a very bright smile.

After Crab 3

Post crab

After Round 3, Dylan anxiously waited for the result, wishing that his gold sacrifice could make a difference. When it was announced that it was a triple tie, Dylan tried to convince people to vote for the (B)rat Pack, even going as far as plotting with Kalinka and Z, both of whom dislike Lenard’s wish, to vote against their own team.

In his EPILOGUE I “Paradise Lost”, Dylan was exiting the Bucket arena when he is approached by Z and Kalinka, who offered him a new room so he doesn’t have to return to the empty airship. Dylan respectfully declines this and returns to an empty airship anyway. He returns to an empty airship, seeing all of his allies fall one by one. He promptly starts to cry but was interrupted when Frankie, being saved and won over Wanzu, appear in the doorstep. Dylan rushes to hug her as Frankie comforts him, telling him he will never be alone. On the other scene, Sunny is planning to get Odyssey back together again, starting by fetching a now elf Mishka back to the ship and eventually resurrecting Ludwig upon Dylan’s plea.

After (B)rat Pack won, and Odyssey somehow getting back together again, Dylan remained for a good while in the world of CRAB while the (B)rat Pack is fixing worlds. The hobby place they opened in the airship was so successful that it made all of the Odysseans millionaires, Dylan included. It is said that Odyssey now owns 69% of Centuria as a result. Dylan lost half of his money dating a clown girl.

Relationships

Life Within CRAB

Rumor has it that him and Mishka “did the deed” while they were training, both parties deny this allegation. Dylan also visited Z in the prison believing that they could be a wielder, both formed a tenuous rapport and friendship. It is rumored that Sentimia and Dylan know each other beyond crab, but Sentimia is afraid of Dylan’s powers. He also ended up entering places he isn’t supposed to be like the H.A.U.N.T. Blimp. It is also usually shown that despite being V.I.P. or guests in CRAB related parties, he would rather work as a staff or waiter there to make a bit more money. He is then shown as one of the staff and owners of the Odyssey Airship when it became a hobby place and card shop café alongside the whole remaining Odyssey crew, Sack, Kalinka, and a revived Mr Overkill which went against Berbie’s wish. The business was successful after selling hundreds of copies of rare Odyssey cards.

Dylan has a child with Feddie named “Denny”. Also, a spectator in CRAB named Cecilia fell in love with Dylan, and eventually the two also dated.
