My plan won't fail!
Lenard (Lord of the Evil Neverending Abyss of Ruination and Darkness), whose real name is eventually revealed to be Wilhefluff, is a participant of Crab 3, as the leader of his team, H.A.U.N.T. A bat overlord ruling his own world with the supposed use of powerful darkness magic and his own intellect, due to his actions he serves as one of the main antagonists of the contest.
He is the creator/father of the [Redacted], whom he despises.
Appearance
Personality
Lenard cares a lot about his status, both as an evil overlord and as the leader of his Team. He delights himself in the suffering of others and shows to be petty and resentful, particularly hating the heroic types such as Soren and Monomyth. He is also an intellectual who prefers to use brain than brawns and is used to leadership, often suffering having to deal with mooks far less bright than himself.
Behind the powerful facade, Lenard is almost constantly panicking and on the verge of a breakdown as he struggles to both match his opponents and to keep the appearances his role dictates - because of this, he is a paranoid with hundreds of plans to save his skin in every occasion which he relies upon. This aspect of him was ultimately laid bare in the final round - and he can become quite excited and emotional when victory is near and has a flair for the dramatic. Even though he was ultimately not a powerful magician, Lenard was proud of being able to trick the other contestants for long.
Despite pretending to be evil and ultimately calling some of them traitors, Lenard shows consistently that he cares for his team and he acts as a sort of father figure for them. He shows to be a good leader, coordinating H.A.U.N.T. to a victory even when they were on the losing side, although he is also extremely isolationist and controlling and wanted to limit how much they would even interact with other teams.
Powers and Abilities
Lenard has leader and strategic capabilities, as shown when he directed the dumbass hordes in Centuria as well as his team. He shows domain over darkness magic, being able to transfigurate himself into a colossal shadowy demonic version of himself, project wings to fly, or all sorts of darkness attacks… He was also able to regenerate himself via the drinking of blood, of which he always kept pouches at hand.
In truth, Lenard’s magic is deficient and most of what he shows are simply illusions, a domain over which he does have incredible prowess, enough to trick all but the most expert magicians. He supplies those with his actual skill, which is to be tech savvy to build all matters of devices and robots in order to aid him in battle. With this he was able to build the Mecha-Bat, a worn down giant mech he covered in Shadows to make seem more threatening and that, despite being barely functioning, was equipped with Adamantium Claws strong enough to pierce Centurion and ultimately force a draw. He could create as well small droids that rushed Awesoman with piercing laser beams, and likely designed the H.A.U.N.T. blimp and the Tredecima-powered cannon seen in Centuria, as well as many other inventions.
Despite his inability to do magic, he is able to create binding magical contracts not even the likes of Ocapon could go against.
Lenard’s most prized possession and ultimate power is the Black Crown given to him by his mother, who he refuses to use due to fear of destroying it. The crown allows its user to basically manipulate layers of mental reality: once he put it on, he sent Awesoman to a hellish puppet dimension inside his own mind, forcing the hero to fly away.
Background
History
Round 1
Unúriel Ocapon (late, entry) vs Lenard (late, entry) in Spread Fear. Match page: C3 R1 - Ocapon vs Lenard
In Centuria, Ocapon became part of the Brotherhood of Shadows, while Lenard led a vast horde army.
In their shared reality, both were contacted by their respective factions to spread fear among the Empire in order to favor their own. Ocapon received advice from Wanzu about the real nature of irreality, while Lenard read a Harry article about a Senator who had been killed and had his face stolen. Both said they were ready. Lenard prepared his army, and dressed one of the orcs (Japanese) with human clothes and the dead senator’s face. Ocapon walked to the Imperial castle, but was refused entry - at the same time then the orcs arrived, releasing a river of fire around the castle and preparing to siege it. Breaking through the door back outside with her magic, the elf put the invading army on the run by walking through the lava and dismantling their ram with one touch, and thus was invited to speak with the Emperor. Ocapon told the Emperor about the Brotherhood of Shadows conspiring against the Empire, but was interrupted by the orc pretending to be the senator (which everyone believed). Being inherently evil, she hurt the senator’s feelings by pointing out it was an orc in disguise. Then, the horde armies invaded, pushed back by an exasperated Lenard, while the Senator was convincing everyone of Ocapon being an agent of the Forest Alliance due to her being an elf. The orcs broke into the palace, but Ocapon used this to show how the orc’s rations looked warped and infected, and explained there was a plague released by the Brotherhood which would soon destroy the Capital, making the orcs once again run along with the Senator. Tired of the orc’s incompetence since the Plague had been developed by Stitch and they were immune to it, Lenard threw the Senator off his blimp and decided to lead the invasion himself, turning into an enormous shadow monster. He encountered Ocapon, who, unimpressed, apparently was able to see through something of his magic, causing Lenard to panic and offer instead a contract - that she would not reveal his secret in exchange for him helping her. Ocapon read the contract and accepted. To test the contract’s magical binding properties, she tried to spill the beans and was electrocuted. On the floor, she suggested Lenard could offer the cure for the plague for people to give up their allies, which he commended as good thinking. They both spread the plague and fear together then, burning down the forests, bullying the Janitor, and spreading chaos together. After this, they both summoned the Brotherhood of Shadow leaders, and threatened them to sign another magical binding contract accepting their success in fulfilling their quests, and to give up the leadership to their more capable masters: the Jelliuska aliens from Wanzu’s reality.
Round 2
Lenard (won, entry) vs Soren and Centurion (lost, entry) in Mecha. Match page: C3 R2 - Lenard vs Soren and Centurion
In Japan, Lenard took on the Kemono potion, becoming human, while Soren took the age elixir becoming a young boy again.
In Soren’s reality, young Soren ventured in the snowy Mount Fuji, following a letter from Lenard who had captured Maiden 4. From under the snow then Lenard drew the cannon of his Bat-Mech (but the lever broke) and began firing. However, Centurion protected Soren on time and when the Bat-Mech emerged and began firing, the titan kept taking the hits with no damage and advancing. Intimidated with Centurion towering in front of him, Lenard dropped Maiden 4 and ran away, flying in jet form - however, Centurion simply threw a huge rock at him. Panicked, he began fidgeting with controls, but the shoddy mech just broke and the rock terminated him, with Maiden 4 waking up in the end next to Soren.
In Lenard’s canon reality, Lenard was revising his schematics for the Bat-Mech, and despairing out loud about how Centurion was indestructible due to being made of Adamantium. Cyrus found however Adamantium on Crabmazon, and the bat began building his mech. Upon seeing it, only Stitch was impressed, while Cyrus commented they were fucking dead. Later then the mecha fighting began, with “Lenard” daring Centurion who tore his opponent’s arm and punched his chest, seemingly going through it. The mech then enveloped the whole area in darkness, and used it to scratch Centurion by surprise, who then was commanded by Soren to fly outside of the darkness area of effect (as someone approached). Centurion did so, but the Bat-Mech jumped and landed on his back, and pierced one of his jets with his own adamantium claws, creating a huge explosion that threw both into the snow below. As Centurion showed to be still undamaged and ready to destroy his opponent, Lenard then appeared where Soren was aiming a gun at him and demanding for him to quit the match. It would later be explained the Bat-Mech was actually being piloted by Cyrus or rather a shadow of Cyrus made by Z. Lenard then spoke in the phone with Stitch, commenting the plan had worked and then wondering what was ichigai even about as he had not put any thought on it.
Lenard made a dealing with Z after this, and the shadow gambling destroyed the Freakers, which he was spying using the R.Ant, his son. Lenard then recruited Z as intended hoping to secure a victory for his team.
Round 3
Awesoman (lost, entry) vs Lenard (won, entry). Match page: C3 R3 - Awesoman vs Lenard
In Awesoman’s reality, the Narrator showed Awesoman as he contemplated the upcoming battle, remembering his experiences at the tournament: hanging with the team, choosing to spare Hitler, being cheered on by Ocapon, meeting Bernard and learning about the previous Wish, then remembering his own father’s advice: that there were two kinds of people, those who believed they can, and those who believed they can’t, and that they were both right. Awesoman then entered the arena, cheered by his team. In the commentator cabin, Lurker noted that while Awesoman had the spirit of a hero, he had caused destruction on Centuria and not done anything much impressive, however, Tenebris did note the hero had won all his previous rounds and that perhaps it suited more to his palate to appreciate Awesoman’s moral struggles. He then introduced Lenard, who landed from the H.A.U.N.T. blimp into the arena already piloting his mech. Lenard grinned at the hero, who said he was not scared at all - to this the bat laughed and covered his mech in dark magic, and then the fight began - Lenard encompassing the entire arena in shade and killing the gnome referee. His mech then multiplied into many, who began beating up Awesoman despite the hero’s attempts to dodge, with Tenebris and Lurker noting they were lucky enough to hold domain over darkness and thus being able to see what was happening. Awesoman used his Awesome Vision, turning several spectator gnomes into different objects and Berlo into a potato (he’ll be back). He fought the mechs, but was ultimately beaten down. As he stretched him like a condom and hit him against the arena walls, Lenard laughed at Awesoman for his failures during the tournament, noting he had caused more destruction by accident than he, a villain, had managed to do on purpose. He began crushing his opponent then, saying that if anything, he was the hero in this situation - but enraged, Awesoman had enough - and with new resolve he twisted the mech’s leg, throwing it to the ground and ejecting Lenard from it. He stated that while it was far from perfect, he knew he would master his power for good as the multiverse had enough evil people like Lenard, and urged the overlord to surrender. Noticing his crown fallen not too far away, Lenard laughed and grabbed it, using the magic to create a shadow hand with which he began pushing Awesoman off the arena, stabbing at his head to avoid his vision. Letting go, Awesoman destroyed the magic by clapping, blowing the crown off Lenard’s head - before the bat could grab it again, Awesoman shot his Awesome Vision and it bounced on the crown: to the hero’s horror, Lenard was converted into a candy dispensing machine.
In Lenard’s canon reality, Lenard had been explaining his plans to his team, saying having Z on their side was an advantage but that they were still behind in terms of points and that he had made repairs on his mech which had been damaged during the battle against Centurion - he lamented having to pilot the mech himself instead of using Cyrus like last time. As he declared his plan wouldn’t fail, the bell rang. Later then, Lenard faced Awesoman on his mech, and began by telling the hero he could surrender if he wanted - but much to Lenard’s frustration the Monomyth was not impressed. Declaring he would defeat him just like Soren, Lenard began the battle then by releasing a ton of small laser droids with which he attempted to overwhelm his opponent - when Awesoman ended up dropping to the floor, many of the lasers bounced and hit the drones, making many of them disappear. A hurting but not damaged Awesoman stood up again, just in time to use his Awesome Vision against the mech’s attacking arm, with seemingly no effect. After that, the hero clasped the mech’s claw with one hand, and admitted he just wanted to see what Lenard had that allowed him to beat his headliner, but, dropping the mech to his knees just with his hand, declared it was all luck. As Awesoman flew, his theme music started playing and Lenard managed to eject himself from the mech right before the Monomyth smashed through the cockpit, destroying it. As he did, the illusion covering the mech shattered and showed its real form, a run-down robot made of scraps, with the arm having been properly affected by the Awesome vision. The mech fell apart, and not long after Lenard’s bat wings also proved to be illusory, the real ones too small to support him which caused him to plummet to the ground. Lying there under the stares and whispers of the spectators, Lenard could hear Ocapon’s voice saying it was only a matter of time for the truth about his magical ineptitude to come out. However, the memory of a doorbell ringing took him out of his despair - back to the initial scene, he remembered having received his Black Crown from the Gamemaster, with a note saying Crabs could reach their peak potential. Although then he had dismissed using it due to being too valuable to risk, he now distracted his opponent with a screaming shadow illusion in order to snatch the crown and put it on -the box revealing the crown to be a gift from his mother, who calls him Wilhefluff-, and declaring he had nothing left to lose with all his plans ruined, Lenard shouted Awesoman would pay. With its power then activated, a Hero’s Death in Four Acts began, a play in which Awesoman was transported to a theater, where he met a puppet version of himself played by Lenard, telling him he would pay for his transgression. Awesoman began to warp as he asked what Lenard meant - then was surrounded by countless bat puppets, who pushed him into a hole and falling towards what seemingly as hell. Awesoman woke up then as a real puppet in a hellish landscape of the fourth dimension, agonizing in pain while Lenard laughed. In the CRAB arena, Lenard approached then the hero lost in the trance and with a simple “boo” made him fly away and quit the match.
Lenard despaired when Z challenged Kome to a battle, considering the possible reward not worth the risk. Incensed, Z exposed the conversation, revealing further the lack of aura the bat had.
During the War of the Three Wishes, Lenard did everything he could to secure a victory. However, ultimately his wish to create a Crab Circus under his jurisdiction where Crabs would be trapped put some of his own team members against him, namely Kalinka, and Z supported the Brat Pack due to respect for having lost gambles against Kome and Hime. Lenard ultimately lost as the winning wishes were the Brat’s.
After Crab 3
After Brat Pack’s victory, he panicked and escaped (though the new gods had no interest in doing anything to him, he is just that paranoid). He is seen in Kome’s epilogue in his world seeing a picture sent by Kalinka and Cyrus with a somewhat wistful look, the reborn Mishka around.
Lenard contacted the Gamemaster years later, and used his own science and the Gamemaster’s essence to create a new servant that would grant him ultimate power. However, this so called servant gained his own will and became the Roomba, also known as the Second Gamemaster.
Relationships
Life Within CRAB
He was isolationist and hung mostly in the blimp. His team treated him as something of a father figure.
Despised Monomyth for being heroic and did a celebration when Soren died. He was against Soren being revived. He was annoyed by Dylan too who liked to tease him.
Accused of being gay by Desmond, which he vehemently denied. He ultimately invited Frankie to his airship and they began dating (although Lenard runs away whenever anything like marriage is mentioned).
