Simon “Shin” Chuckson is a character from the Second Crab Tournament. A security officer killed in the line of duty, he is given a second chance to live at CRAB where he leads his own team, the Blast Rites and faces heroic sacrifice. He comes from the same world as Linda May Lieu from the previous tournament.
Appearance
Personality
Shin Chuckson, formerly Simon Chuckson, worked as a guard for a militarized private security firm. He was shot and killed during a break-in at a shipping warehouse.
He was barred entry to Valhalla after his death was ruled an occupational fatality. He was instead chosen for /CRAB/2 by the Gamemaster, thereby given a second chance at life.
Chuckson clung to every moment of life granted to him by crab, with the goal of winning back his place in his world. What he lacks in forethought, he makes up for in improv and style. Chuckson’s indomitable spirit and gusto served as a lynchpin for Blast Rites until his final death in Round 3.
Powers and Abilities
Chuckson’s tactics are comically overkill, and adapts to situations on the fly.
His skills include:
Throwing things
Drawing energy from snacks
Shin-Kuu Chip Jump Technique (disputed)
Background
History
Round 1: Triathlon on Mount Olympus
Shin Chuckson (won, entry) vs Antonio (lost, entry). Match page: C2 R1 - Chuckson vs Antonio
In Antonio’s reality
In Chuckson’s canon reality, he matched Antonio in biking through the use of cool bike tricks, then they both jumped into the water. While Antonio got the advantage he was grabbed by a giant squid. Chuckson grabbed the animal and Antonio zapped it and thanked him, yet still ran for the victory. Powering up by eating potato chips, Chuckson jumped ahead and won the match.
Round 2: Museum Heist!
Shin Chuckson and Maiden 4 (won, entry) vs Alaïsa and Vivian (lost, entry) in Heist. Match page: C2 R2 - Chuckson and Maiden 4 vs Alaïsa and Vivian
In France, Alaisa took on the age potion becoming a baby, Vivian became a male baby, Chuckson became a baby, Maiden 4 became a milf.
In Vivian and Alaisa’s reality, Alaisa took on two of the potions, thinking it would give her magic spells and her adult form, but instead became a baby like Vivian (and accidentally spilling the gender one on GM). She was sent to recover a painting of GM-Tan the French had stolen. As Maiden 4 soothed a scared Chuckson, Alaisa and Vivian used the pointy hat to break the glass and stole it, but it was snatched by Maiden. Alaisa tricked Chuckson into activating the gas security and both fell asleep, with Vivian immune snatching her and the painting. However Maiden turned into another Alaisa and chased Vivian. Once Vivian was outside, he returned to his adult form and defeated Maiden 4, leaving her trapped for the guards to find.
In Chuckson and M4’s canon reality, Maiden broke into the museum with baby Chuckson whom she directed to watch the cameras. She was confronted by baby Vivian and Baby Alaisa, she beat up the first to a paste - however the paste turned into a crowd of them chasing her while Alaisa made out with the painting. The real guard grabbed Chuckson as well. Maiden 4 managed to avoid the sprouts and recaptured baby Alaisa and the painting, finally coming to meet the guard. She bonked the guard and rescued baby Chuckson who hugged her.
Round 3: The Widow and the Wraith
Shin Chuckson (lost, entry, part 2) vs Carolyn (won, entry, part 2). Match page: C2 R3 - Chuckson vs Carolyn
In Chuckson’s reality, he faced Carolyn in her regular and void forms and sacrificed himself to release her from her suffering. Keeping it short until I replay it.
In Carolyn’s canon reality, Carolyn got warped by her powers, and Chuckson sacrificed himself one last time to save her with William Lurker’s help.
After Crab 2
During their deathmatch, Carolyn began to break down. The Void which forms the hole in her face enveloped Shin Chuckson, along with much of the Bucket. The crisis was stopped when Chuckson briefly reemerged from the Void as the mortal Simon Chuckson, who managed to talk Carolyn back down from madness. He then vanished, his spirit having found peace.
Cameos
A compilation of Chuckson’s cameos appears in the final moments of Chucks Quest.wad
After Crab 2
The death of Shin Chuckson did irreparable damage to Blast Rites. Each team member’s response to his wake would influence their time in the “12 years a crab” eternal-tournament ending.
Maiden 4 had a daughter with him called Simone. His saucepan would later be wielded by Wietse, while Soren inherited the spirit of the Blast Rites.
Relationships
Life Within CRAB
Chuckson was an enthusiastic motivator to his team, and was particularly encouraging towards his teammate Ormand. He also gave a pep-talk to a fearful Lustless leading up to Round 3. In Nathan’s winning entry, he is seen accompanying Cannon Girl as the death-matches unfold.
Despite their wildly different temperaments, a close relationship developed between Chuckson and Maiden 4.

Trivia
- The button on his chest covers the gunshot wound which originally ended his life
- He refers to his hand grenade as the “Spud Crusher”, alluding to the fact that a Spränghandgranat M/39’s 170 gram payload of trinitrotoluene filling possesses enough explosive power to crush a potato
