YOU STAND BETWEEN THE VICTORY MAN AND OBLIVIOUS SERENITY. I WILL BE UNSHACKLED FROM THE TORTUOUS ABSTRACTION THAT I WAS CREATED TO SUFFER BENEATH. YOU MUST BE DESTROYED.

The Victory Man is a participant of Crab 3, as part of the Team Ultraviolent. A creature made by gods who self destructed in their arrogance, its only purpose is to win - no matter how great or small the competition be, he will materialize and obtain victory, and such a great purpose even drains him from his own will.

Appearance

Personality

The gods that created Victory Man wanted a creature with no will, who would just follow its intended purpose. However, their death awoke in him some kindling of self will which struggles against the compulsion to follow the divine drive installed within him, and he longs release from this situation.

The Victory Man does not seem to be able to relate to others and his thinking is alien. He will appear in a conflict, find the most direct and overbearing solution to it and leave once Victory is achieved.

He seems to aim to beat enemies at their own game, such as using faith when facing Moses to out-do him in his own area of expertise.

Powers and Abilities

Being a construct made by gods, the Victory Man is more akin to a golem than an actual being.

He shows to have powerful strength, speed and near infinite stamina as well as flight. It has been stated he would likely be able to arm-wrestle Awesoman until the end of time, and he was capable enough to punch down Moses into submission in their first encounter. Furthermore using his power, he can modify his form in order to accomplish whatever goal the current competition ensues. Using this innate ability he was able to spawn multiple golems with quick reproductive purposes in order to outbreed Yuna as well as to take a warped, muscular form with a powerful laser beam, damaging enough to instantly pulverize Davok to the bone upon contact. Even in Davok’s reality where he did not transform, he showed enough stamina to go against the hunter blow by blow for hours before being worn down by his opponent’s regeneration.

He has psionic energy as well as esper abilities which allow him to predict opponent’s movements (which he can use to win rock paper scissors).

Background

History

Round 1

Moses (lost, entry) vs Victory Man (won, entry) in The Rejected Painter From Beyond. Match page: C3 R1 - Moses vs Victory Man

In Centuria, Moses was part of the Forest Alliance while Victory Man belonged to the Brotherhood of Shadows.

In Moses’ reality, he remembered when he met Jesus, who sent him to the Tournament where many people were. Moses went to spare them the Lord’s wrath, who had declared the many Crabs profane for adoring other gods and flashing their sensualities. Jesus told him a demon (Victory Man) had possessed Hitler and it was Moses’ duty to defeat him and bring Auschwitz to the Lord again. He would also need to catch up on scripture. He transported then the Prophet to Centuria where he fell from the sky in thunder, declaring his intention to face Victory Man and punching the construct down into a crater made by the impact. As Victory Man tried to climb up, Moses called him disgusting and stomped him, beat his teeth out, took him by the tongue and chained him below in hell to await judgement day. Moses then asked Jesus to send him to his next task, and was transported then next to a crying Frankie, who was doubting of God’s existence. He then embraced the otter and baptized her which Frankie happily accepted.

In Victory Man’s canon reality, he landed on Centuria crashing against the ground and declared he had to find God and love him for all he had done. He found then a bush and prayed to it, learning about Moses whom he called an idolator and he went on to search. Flying through the mountains, he found his opponent. Moses called him demonic and false while Victory Man stated the bush had burned brighter for his praying than for Moses’ adoration, proving him the true messenger of heaven. A fight then ensued, but ultimately the construct tanked Moses’ staff beam attack and took the staff away with his tongue, pushing Moses below and while wishing him peace, punching the old man into a crater. He noted to Moses this was God’s will, and decided to go next to find Hitler and help him achieve victory in the arts - but not before marking the spot as he knew Moses would rise and would have to be punched down again.

Round 2

Yuna (won, entry) vs Victory Man (lost, entry) in Koinobori. Match page: C3 R2 - Yuna vs Victory Man

In Japan, Victory Man took the gender-shift potion while Yuna took on the Age Elixir.

In Victory Man’s reality, he was set on defeating Yuna, through giving birth to countless spawn and thus fixing Japan’s declining birth-rate. Flying towards the shrine where Yuna was wondering her next steps, Victory Man drank the gender-shift potion and became Victory Woman. Victory Woman gloated she was already filled with spawn and that they would all share in her victory - when Yuna tried to challenge that notion, the abomination bent her with one swift punch to the stomach, then declared her own water had broken. It flew to find a worthy place where to give birth - an Osaka media station. In front of the cameras and the running periodists it birthed a huge amount of spawn, which she ordered to go and reach maturity during the day to bolster the birthrate. After that, Victory Woman turned back into Victory Man through sheer force of will alone.

In Yuna’s canon reality, the rest of the Bucket Servant girls explained to Yuna what sex was and what her mission ensued, much to her horror and disgust. Yuna left and began by asking a random Japanese man why he didn’t have kids, but he responded with panic at her form, so she mentally manipulated him to find her normal. The man then responded work didn’t leave him any time for kids, and that Yuna reminded him of a certain person who asked people to have kids all the time. He suggested Yuna asked more people and she did, interviewing several Japanese: some were too busy with work, some too busy with gaming, some were gay, some being sick, some being depressed… When she read the compiled list of issues, she was surprised to find “baby-eating” by oni as the eighth biggest reason of low natality. Meanwhile, an oni was about to eat a baby from a house that hadn’t lit incense but was knocked out of it by Yuna launching a microwave at them, then Evelin smiting them with a hammer. After the 50th oni killed, the birthrate went from 1374 to 1400 - not much, but enough to beat Victory Man who just offered free golden homunculus pregnancies at the side of the road.

Round 3

Victory Man (lost, entry) vs Davok (won, entry). Match page: C3 R3 - Victory Man vs Davok

In Victory Man’s reality, the Victory Man declared Davok stood between him and serenity, as he wished to be unshackled from the abstraction of his reality, and for such his opponent had to be destroyed. He transformed then, his body bulging and filled with veins, eyes protruding, tongue splitting and twisting upon itself into a shape made for attaining victory. He shot then from his tongue and mouth a powerful energy beam, that vaporized Davok’s upper torso into a skeleton.

In Davok’s canon reality, the Gamemaster had spoken with Davok, noticing the man did not need a power up and that it was curious he refused to use his ability. He expected Davok to win unlike Jed on the last tournament. Jumping to one hour into the match, the monster hunter and the abomination were trading blows on equal terms, with Davok getting the upper hand with a feint and a surprise kick. Victory Man clasped Davok’s arm, but the hunter used this for a double kick - in response the monster pinned him down with a punch to the stomach and then attempted a double-hammer, which Davok stopped with his feet. Davok then pulled a double shotgun and shot at Victory Man’s eyes, blinding him for the moment: then grabbed a piece of the arena and launched it at the monster, who punched it into dust right in time. However, it was a distraction which Davok used to hit the monster with a grenade stick, exploding his arm and noted amused it could bleed. The Victory Man roared in anger then, and wrestled against the hunter before wrapping him with his tongue and launching him away. Davok quickly cut his enemy’s wrist, but Victory Man launched him in the air and then double kick dropped him against the arena, cracking it and leaving him on the ground. He declared victory was his, but on the ground, Davok mocked the sentiment, and wrapping the ultraviolents feet on dynamite it detonated it with a broken arm, ripping off one of his legs and standing again, declaring the fight was not yet over. He showed then his regeneration, healing his arm. Davok noted how most people would hide from such a creature and let it be, but he was in his prime: when Victory Man launched himself at him, he dodged the blow and broke its arm with a kick. Laying on the ground, Victory Man noted the irony of having been forged by gods who abandoned him with nothing but victory in mind yet being bested by a mortal, and warned Davok the strongest would always fail and that he would be forgotten too. Davok replied his gods did not abandon them - they were killed by them. As he brutally slashed through the enemy with his combat knife, he revealed the blood from the gods had given him visions of the future, that he would live another fifty years, that he refused to use the god’s power to deal with monsters such as him, to take out the trash. Victory Man asked him to stop, and Davok replied it would be over once he was dead, and ripped the monster’s signature tongue, killing him and declaring this was true victory (man…).

After Crab 3

After the tournament ended, the Bratheon remade the Victory Man as a small creature under the care of Wanzu, thinking in her lack of purpose and her divinity he could find peace. He is seen happily sitting as her staff in Kome’s epilogue as she advises Wietse.

Relationships

Life Within CRAB

Victory Man did not engage much with other Crabs, though he was fiercely competitive.

Trivia

  • Had he won the Tournament, his wish would have been to be freed from it forever, which was likely requested to the Bratheon.
